Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of conversion play program on the children's personality. In this study, a total of twenty 4-year-old infants at a kindergarten attached to C elementary school participated in the eight sessions of convergent play classes for four weeks. Before and after the application of the convergent play program to children, the participants conducted a personality evaluation test. The results showed that convergent play provided an opportunity to respect each other and to improve problem-solving skills through communication. Second, paired sample t-test results showed that there was a signigicant increase in the personality test (p<.001). The analysis of observation records and parental interviews about infants who had convergent play classes also suggested that infants realized their value, correct self-esteem, and mature consideration through convergent play. In addition, convergent play classes helped participants to develop a sense of belonging to a peer group and an aesthetic sensitivity to beauty. These findings imply that convergent play is necessary and can be further developed in a kindergarten educational environment.
