Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare a program that utilizes Scratch program on the 6th grade students to understand the process of gas concept. For this study, 19 6th grade students at D elementary school in D Metropolitan used the Scratch program and learned the unit related to gas concept. A test strip was created and compared to the effect of the Scratch program to check students’ understanding. An interview was carried out with eight students to gauge their understanding of the concept. Through this study, it was found that students understand the concept of gas particles through a discussion, the Scratch program, teacher’s class to understand the concept of gas. In addition, even when there is a difference in individual skill level, students maintain an interest when using the Scratch program. It was confirmed that the Scratch program was and effective model that allows students to express their thoughts.
