AbstractOur students are high level of academic achievement, while they are significantly low in academic interest and satisfaction. To solve this problem, Korea is emphasizing STEAM education that allow students to integrate various concepts and knowledge and to experience learning process used in the real world. It is important to consider learning interest in STEAM education. But if it pursue sensual interest only, it is difficult to be sustainable. To develop integrated thinking in STEAM education, it should emphasize learning process that students intimately connect with various knowledge to solve problems. Students can learn this interesting problem-solving process with computing. Especially, block based programming, robot, and physical computing education is able to offer learning environment in which learners study a variety of subjects and topics with interest as the concept of programming education expand. In this research, we argued shared educational values and means between STEAM and Computing education. On the basis of theses arguments, we analyzed a variety of cases and suggested STEAM education with Computing. |
